The Red Zone publishes open-source research on sanctions exposure and shadow-fleet activity at sea.
What we publish
The Sanctions Desk, every day: new designations, port state control detentions, maritime security advisories and incidents at sea, collected from a fixed register of official publishers, with every vessel named by IMO number.
Weekly analysis of the Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean: tanker movements, ship-to-ship transfers, AIS manipulation and enforcement actions.
How we work
Every finding traces to a named public source that readers can check. We grade sources on the NATO Admiralty scale, state confidence in ICD 203 terms, keep observation separate from judgement, and run an adversarial review before anything is published.
Who reads it
People who deal with ships and their owners: bunker suppliers, port and ship agents, shipowners and managers, brokers, marine insurers and maritime lawyers, along with compliance teams, journalists and analysts who follow sanctions enforcement at sea.
Who writes it
The Red Zone was founded by Massimiliano d'Amore, a geopolitical and maritime intelligence analyst specialised in the Gulf and the Red Sea.
